Obituary: Philip "Phil" Kuritzky

Philip “Phil” Kuritzky

Philip "Phil" Kuritzky, 94, of Prescott, Ariz., was born Sunday, Sept. 28, 1919, in Port Chester, N.Y. He departed this life Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, at the Prescott VA.

Phil enlisted in the U.S. Army October of 1940. He served in the 1st Division Engineers ETO from 1942 to 1945. He was assigned to Army Phys. Ed. in England, where he traveled to many bases including Naval bases. He was honorably discharged in April of 1946. He moved to Prescott in 1988.

One of many passions was working with the original NY Titans and later when they became the NY Jets, with Joe Namath.

He was on the board of the Westchester Jewish Center, Mamaroneck, N.Y., past president of Rotary Clubs in Mamaroneck and Prescott, Baseball Umpires Assoc. as well as the Softball and Football Assoc., director Prescott Salvation Army and Sheriff of Westerners; director of the World's Oldest Rodeo, and in 1988 director at the Prescott Resort where he lived.

He is survived by his wife Irene, and sons Stuart of Ossining, N.Y., and Jay of Mahopac, N.Y.

There will be a memorial service at a later date. The family suggests donations in Phil's memory to Temple B'rith Shalom, 2077 Brohner Way, Prescott, AZ 86301 or a charity of your choice.
