With loving memory, we regret the passing of Lyle Preston.
Lyle, of Prescott, Ariz., passed away on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012, at the age of 90 at the VA hospital in Prescott.
Lyle was born Nov. 26, 1921, to Clarence and Georgia Preston in Warrensburg, Mo., later moving to Tucson, Ariz.
Lyle was a WWII veteran, serving his country from 1942 to 1946. He worked for AT&T Long Lines as an electrical & transmissions engineer for 35 years. Lyle enjoyed serving his God, his church, family, and friends. He enjoyed singing and was the music director for the various churches within the communities in which he lived for 33 years. He was well-known for making people laugh with his jokes and positive attitude on life. He was also known for his whistling, which made even the birds stop and listen.
Lyle was preceded in death by his son Mike Preston.
Lyle leaves behind in fond memories his wife of 48 years, Geraldine Preston of Prescott; two sons, Conrad and wife Cindy Johnson and Randy Johnson of Globe, Ariz., one daughter, Carol and husband Bill Gill of Tucson; 15 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
There will be a celebration of life at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at Willow Hills First Southern Baptist Church in Prescott.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that all donations be sent to the Prescott Salvation Army, 237 S. Montezuma St., Prescott, AZ 86303 in memory of Lyle Preston.
