Bradshaw Mountain football team hammers Flagstaff, keeps 1st place
The Daily Courier

The Bradshaw Mountain football team is in complete control of Division 3, Section 4.

Winners of six of seven this season, the Bears - who entered Friday night ranked #9 in the AIA's Division 3 - improved their first-place standing in Section 4 with a decisive 37-3 win over Flagstaff at Bob Pavlich Field in Prescott Valley.

The Bears defense forced three first-half turnovers, and scored on a pick-6 and a safety in a game that was never in doubt. Bradshaw easily distanced itself from a Flagstaff team that that entered the game without a loss in sectional play, and in second place behind the Bears.

By the time Mikey Vandyke ran in a pick-6 in the final minute of the first half, Bradshaw was ahead 24-3 and firmly in control.

The Bears now take their impressive run into next week's annual rivalry game with Prescott, which features one of the most competitive matchups in the series' 21-year history.

Prescott has scored 50-plus points in its last three games, including Friday night's 59-2 drubbing of Coconino at PHS.

Bears Fan- you just keep writing and writing. I think you have two novels ready for publishing. While I can agree with some of your points, shut up already. You just sound like someone who has to have the last word (or the last +200) and it just turns into blah blah blah and I'm sure you'll prove me right by posting another novel before day's end.

I exceeded my 200 word limit. So my last sentence is this: for whatever its worth I really don't care who I tick off with my opinion...I'm still right! Go Bears...Beat the crap out of Prescott!

Ok. You are right...how you raise your kids is none of my business. However, keep in mind that these kids are going to run this country as adults. And we as a country are already going down the tubes, so I am very concerned when parents just want to coddle their babies and not let them go through it on their own, without mommy or daddy getting involved. Let go! Let them grow! You will be so proud when you step back and watch what they can handle when you don't interfere! Trust me, I am speaking from experience. My kids were also "verbally abused" by many people who refused to tell them what they wanted to hear, but told them what they needed to hear. Guess what...they know how to deal with it now because I didn't run and make it my business each time things didn't go their way. And because of that, they became MEN! REAL MEN - NOT immature men who act like the world owes them something. Let them take a little bit of crap from coaches, bosses, whoever...it builds character and it humbles them. And that is a good thing. And for whatever it's worth,… (Exceeds 200-word limit)

First off, I grew up in C.V., Graduated @ Prescott and now have kids @ Bradshaw. The Trifecta of the community. I love the trash talk up to a point that it singles out a player. That is unacceptable people! These kids have enough problems to deal with. And to the comment of get use to it- Boss, land lord, etc. These kids are not getting paid to put up with the (personal) verbal abuse, I've heard the comments but they are big boys. They can deal with it... Friday will be a great game! Good Luck guys!

Sounds like someones kids are not as good as they thought. They have to attempt to downgrade others. That in itsself tells you alot about the mentality of a person. Just a little something something i picked up in my collage days.

Mostly grow up. You have greater problems then to go on here and belittle your self and others. Its all good for bradshaw and prescott you guys got what you want why continue to drag nothing on. Try being us here in cv

Article comment by: My son's coach is a big meanie

The same people whining about the coach getting all up in a player's grill after a mistake are the same ones who whine about the youth of today being coddled.

Oh - and they are also upset that their little baby darling isn't being allowed to let his star shine. Puke.

This isn't a community rec league program. This is competitive high school football. I had worse stuff yelled at me when I was 10 years old picking daisies in right field back in '72. Difference was helicopter parents weren't there to defend my precious, fragile ego from the tongue lashing after I dropped the third ball in a row.

I survived. So will your boys.

A thought: seeing as how at least 1/3 of Bradshaw seems destined for a military career: are you going to write angry letters about their drill sergeants too?

And if you had any idea of what was being said to the boys which you don't, you would know that the coach doesn't give a rip about their futures either.

While I greatly appreciate your concern for my sons preparation for life after high school, he was not hired to do that. He was hired to coach football period. And unlike a bill collector or land lord, he is supposed to be for this team. They should not have to play against him too. My sons life after football is none of his or your business. If I want to raise a baby, you shouldn't give rip one way or another.

Who Cares about stats, who's out on the field or even records? Each week is different period. The Bradshaw Mountain Bears know that and that's why they keep winning, they worry about the next game coming and you want to know something else? Last I saw, a win is a win no matter who you have on the field, the whole team gets credit, not "the starters" .

As a parent last year and this year we have got problems parents, coaches, and it seems like our kids are lucky not to be caught doing things that there not susposed to or its being hidden? To add to that last year not only did many players quit many didn't come back this year to play also but several coaches quit and along with our freashman- jv /head varsity football coach many assistances were youth coaches from our area. This sure didnt help . But something is brewing again this year. Smells alot like last year. But good luck bears still rooting for you .

The trib only comes once a week. The Courier is the only DAILY paper. For Saturday morning news (since the games are played on Friday nights) we have to turn to the daily paper that claims to serve "the Prescott, Arizona communities" (see their mast head). And to say that the paper often shows a bias towards PHS is an understatement. It can be seen week in and week out.

We are proud of our boys and their accomplishments, but they do notice the paper and I can understand where it is disheartening to some of them to not be noticed and recognized as they should be.

I think the parents and players need to stop whining about their coach. He may be a jerk and they are certainly entitled to feel that way. However, these young men are about to go into the real world where they will come across all kinds of people that are bigger jerks...like supervisors, or land lords, or bill collectors. That's reality. My suggestion is that you all suck it up. And parents, please stop babying your little dears...they are almost grown...time to cut the cord. Good luck Friday, Bears!

As a part of last years team i will say coaching wasa big let down it shows from the players leaving, quiting the team due to the coach. Also you might want to mention all of the other key players that didnt perform. Players that were ("key players" ) no one helped at all in the offence. The one player that was our "best player" and"leader" couldnt even stay in the game and unless the ball was placed neatly into his hands it was on the ground. Our running back way under performed. As with all the other positions. I will say i didnt do my part also. Just get over it and be happy that our school is able to play more teams that we can count on winning. Just get over it, its embarrassing for you and our team. Along with most of its is only half correct.

You have got to be kidding me some people need some help. No one said anything about one or the other. Seems like a player of bradshaw said something about this! Yes when you are a passing offence you will pass the ball as bradshaw has. And they have a power back to run. In which i remember last year the run game was pretty much zero and when that happens along with coaching problems and the way the coach wanted things done yes it wont work out. Ie ,last year now that coach is gone and all the personal problems along with the lack of ability to coach yes bradshaw put in a more realistic offence and the defence is actually stopping teams along with playing easier teams in a lower division and being allowed to drop down a division fron aia. Yes im sure it appears all great but i can see problems brewing. And one person is not going to break a team or not somebody will alway step up and or help on other areas that are weak. IM THINKING THERE IS OTHER ISSUES SOME OF YOU HAVE and ill hope you dont consider yourselves adults.
