4/29/2013 9:55:00 PM Letter: Carrey, Gandelman want it both ways
One of the statements made by Joe Gandelman in his April 9 column, "It's actor Jim Carrey versus Fox News," prodded me into writing this response. About halfway into his slavishly supportive column of Jim Carrey's vitriolic spoof of the NRA and Charlton Heston, he makes a statement that "even a can of Friskies would screech 'apples and oranges'" with respect to Fox's Greg Gutfeld and Dana Perino's commentary about Carrey's hypocrisy in having armed guards for his personal protection while deriding Heston as a spokesman for the NRA.
Perhaps apples and oranges are more alike than anyone ever realized, since Gandelman's argument seems to be that multimillionaires like Carrey have the right to protect themselves with armed guards, but ordinary people without his resources should just keep their heads down and hope for the best.
Hypocrisy, thy name is Gandelman.

Al it takes Hadley, is for agreement with Carrey's position to make fun of the NRA. The hypocrisy is clear. Remember when then Senator Kerry avoided his paying taxes on a new yacht by keeping it outside Massachusetts? And now Kerry is Obama's Secretary of State. How nice.
