9/24/2012 10:45:00 PM Letter: Many helped make band trip a reality
The Pride of Prescott Marching Band has been invited to the 2012 Pearl Harbor Memorial Day Parade as Arizona's sole representative. The marching band will have the great distinction of representing the U.S.S. Arizona by carrying her official banner in the parade and a performance in front of the U.S.S. Missouri. Furthermore, the young men and women of the band will have the honor of laying a memorial wreath at the U.S.S. Arizona during a ceremony to honor those who lost their lives.
On behalf of the Pride of Prescott Marching Band Boosters, I want to thank the community for their overwhelming support. On Saturday, Sept. 8, we hosted a fundraising Luau and concert to help the marching band raise funds to pay for the trip to Hawaii. It was a fantastic evening, and made possible by several groups. First, we would like to thank our entertainment, The Funky World of Jazz, Pandemonium, the PHS Jazz Ensemble, Double D and Pyroklectic. These fabulous group of people, came together to provide entertainment for over 400 community members, family and students alike. The City of Prescott provided the band stage, which gave us a centerpiece for our bands to perform on.
