Letter: Even a headache is part of God's plan

EDITOR:

I have been reading a lot about birth control issues, but have tried to ignore many opinions regarding "right to life." After reading Gene Twaronite's letter, I can no longer hold my tongue.

It's no wonder Gene is the only member of Unplanned Parenthood so far: his views are ridiculous!

To claim that denying a rapist the right to parenthood is an abomination, especially against his female victim. He uses the argument that such a "right to life" for this unwanted pregnancy is part of God's plan. By the same token then, we should let people die without attempting to help them because that's God's plan, that they should die: no more hospital visits, emergency surgeries, giving children with cancer, etc. treatment of any kind, no medication to fight debilitating pain and so forth.

Why fight against God's plan by helping anyone at all? Let people like Hitler do his worst; after all he must have been part of God's plan to kill all those people.

I'm willing to bet that even Mr. Twaronite takes an aspirin when he has a headache. He shouldn't though: it must be God's plan that he has one in the first place.

It seems that the God's plan argument is one that far too many people use too often because it promotes their own opinions and not the other way around. Such ignorance keeps us from improving or moving forward at all.

In addition, Gene is against helping the rest of the world improve its reproductive health. Perhaps he would personally like to take on the feeding, education, medical care, etc. for all these children of unwanted pregnancies that would result from rapes or lack of birth control. So, let's continue to allow medical ignorance, etc. to remain in other countries or even our own, with women dying of breast cancer and more because that is part of what Planned Parenthood provides and is therefore evil because, once again, it is against God's plan!

1. @ to gene and all males...................... I had 5 kids. the first 4 I ended up a single mom after divorce. worked and cared for them. dangerous? not.

2. on rape and pregnancy........... my youngest daughter was raped at 13. she said if she was pregnant she would not get an abortion. we are Christians. she was young. what do we do? force her? we could have forced her had she been pg, but that would have hurt her more also.. no - we prayed and left it in His hands and trusted no matter what that He would help. she was not pg from this crime, in fact now at 40 she is still childless. it hurts her bc she loves children and has wanted one since a child.

It is and you won't. Don't be arrogant AND disingenuous. That would move you completely into the insufferable category.

Unfortunately, your opinion is why our country has become so arrogant, ignorant, and full of "itself".

Article comment by: God's Controls Everything He is Omnipotent

God controls whether each quark in the entire Universe is up, down, strange, charm, bottom and top, He controls what kind of hadrons are formed when they come together...therefore He controls the spin of each electron and every chemical and nuclear interaction in the entire Universe! Everything that happens in the Universe is God's Will! So all this piddling stuff, these decisions on Earth are easy... one wonders what he had in mind with Hitler, disease,(i.e. cancer), atomic bombing innocent citizens, starving children and ETC!? I am sure that he has something up his sleeve when a baby dies in screaming, hideous pain, that cunning, floating above us in Heaven, magical, supernatural deity! Remember, He works in strange and wondrous ways!

More on this ridiculous letter? The only thing more hilarious than the original letter is the responses thinking it was meant in a serious manner. HOWEVER! Since you brought it up, why would any religious type who thinks, believes, KNOWS there is a far better place to go after death, want any type of medical care? Heck if I had that kind of guarantee I wouldn't look before I walked across the street. Ever. Not that I'm suggesting anyone actually do that ...

Since when were you appointed monitor of the comments section?? Directing others to make comments is a bit arrogant, don't you think? ("Gene: Please print a clarification...End it.") It's one thing to ask, it's another to expect. How very pious of you.

I respectfully request that you tone down your arrogance and stick to simply posting your own inane observations (as you do on EVERY topic) and allow others to post as they wish. Enjoy the dialogue, don't try to direct it.

Your sarcasm meter seems to be faulty. You might want to get that serviced soon, lest people might begin to believe you don't possess a sense of humor. Just saying.

Before commenting on a female reproductive responsibility, why don't you go through a pregnancy and birth first just to see how dangerous it can be. Also, try raising the child while working a full time job. Unless you've been there, don't make unclaimed judegement.

Gene: Please print a clarification. This game might provide amusement but it is ultimately too dangerous for those you force to play. End it.

Zephyra: Actually, the "plan" belongs to Satan. It was caused by The Fall of Man. It's that simple

And you ma'am, are just one of the deceived, just one of his pawns.

Funny thing is, Christians believe in God's plan and simultaneously believe in freedom of choice. How does that work?

Dang, this is confusing! How can anyone tell what's part of one god's plan? Or perhaps it's part of another god's plan, but your god simply overlooked it. This is especially concerning when the god I presume you're referring to is a vengeful god.

Religion is such an odd creation.

As long as the issue can drive voters, that's what is really important. That's why it is supported by big donations from the Koch bros and their corporations and their special interest groups. I think we have bigger problems than deciding reproductive issues for women.

The noise is continual and the legislative solutions are intended to inflame passions, as we saw from the last Arizona legislative session, and with the US House voting on some 35 bills limiting reproductive rights and with no chance of passing the Senate. I know this is hard to accept, given the religious issues involved, but big donors don't give one wit and would never resolve what is otherwise a hammer for beating the opposition, and furthering control by those who serve only their profit. Both side play the game, but one out of necessity is defensive.

To me abortion is immoral except for life saving (I would put rape in that category), but I find the corporatist ownership of our government to be a far greater evil and threat to humans on the planet.
