Special to The Courier

PRESCOTT - The Highlands Center for Natural History is hosting its 6th annual Highlands Holiday, Artisans and Crafters Bazaar at 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

The sale will take place in the Highlands Center's James Learning Center at 1375 S. Walker Road on the Prescott National Forest, two miles south of Highway 69 at Costco in Prescott.

Shoppers can enjoy the fresh aroma of the pine forest alongside warm cider, hot chocolate, or delicious goodies for only a dollar.

Children can bring their wish lists to Santa, create a birdhouse or pinecone while parents shop, and even shop for family members in their own kid's zone where all items cost less than $10.

Local artisans will sell their handcrafted linens, silk and natural fiber scarves, accessories, clothing, jewelry, and many other unique and skillfully crafted items.

Fun nature-related items will include educational nature games, books and puppets.

Shoppers who bring a few packaged food items or a new toy for those less fortunate will be entered into a drawing for a 25 percent discount on their total one-time purchases at the Nature Center's store.

Since the Highlands Center is a nonprofit, shoppers won't pay any taxes on items sold in the Nature Center store.

A portion of all vendor sales goes to support the Highlands Center's programs including kids summer camp, Saturday kids F.U.N. (Friends Understanding Nature) camps, adult nature study classes and school field trips.

Guests also are invited to pick up a self-guided interpretive trail map and stroll along one of the trails leading from the center into in the Prescott National Forest.

For information, go online to highlandscenter.org or call 776-9550.
